Melinda MONDOVICS

I
have been working as an English <-> Hungarian certified
translator and proofreader since 2007 In the following specializations:
international relations, transport, logistics, energetics, psychology
and pedagogy. I have translated application documentations submitted to
the EU for funds in the fields of transport and logistics, Eckhart
Tolle's presentations, different documents dealing with equal
opportunities and other psychology-related topics, feasibility studies
and application documents compiled about the synergy between transport
and environmental protection as well as the synergy between transport
and psychology and international articles written in relation to oil and
renewable energy and also to international relations.
As a research specialist, I made surveys and assessed xpats' life situations in Hungary.
At
the European Commission Directorate-General for Translation, where I
worked as a translation intern, on one hand, I translated internal
documents and made terminology-related work in the fields of transport,
sustainable development and energetics, on the other hand, as the member
of the Communication Subcommittee founded by the interns, I wrote PR
articles about Hungary. At the European Commission, I had the chance to
immerse myself in international relations.
In
Cleveland, USA I was dealing with American-Hungarian relations, where
on one hand, I was making book reviews written by American Hungarians as
a co-host in the American-Hungarian Radio of Cleveland, on the other
hand, I was holding presentations for the American Hungarian community
about the changes made since '56.
I dedicate my free time to psychology and international relations. I read psychology-related articles and books on a regular basis in English and Spanish, deepening my knowledge in the different psychology-related trends and fields. Both as a professional and as a private person, I am particularly interested in brain research, neurolinguistics, psycholinguistics, the relationship between psychology and language and in how the psyche could have an impact on language use and how a culture could have an influence on language and our way of thinking and perceptions.
In
my free time, I am an active member of a Budapest-based multicultural
community where my interests in international relations and psychology
are interlinked and where I can get a deeper insight and widespread
views into different cultures.
I have an intermediate Spanish language certificate (B2).
